Karen Dwyer-Burchill – Headteacher

BIO

I’ve been teaching for over 25 years, having taught in Ireland and Spain before moving to England. I’ve taught in a range of schools from two large mixed comprehensive schools, a boys school to an all-through school and a performing arts school. My background is in music and the performing arts and I’ve also had various pastoral and academic managerial roles. Working in a range of school contexts has been invaluable in developing my expertise as a teacher, manager and leader. As Head Teacher, I’ve led a well respected school through three successful inspections. It was a collaborative process where every member of staff shared the same vision in ensuring our pupils success and well-being.

Who is Edith Kay

Edith and Kay were an ordinary couple who are representative of all those who devote their lives to taking care of vulnerable children, fostering them and welcoming them warmly into their family home. Over many years, Edith and Kay worked to promote resilience in vulnerable young people, and to instil the values of compassion and generosity of spirit. Their deep-seated belief in the power of education and care to transform lives underpins the ethos of our school.
