St Raphael’s Edible Garden

The pupils at Edith Kay School volunteer at St Raphael’s Edible Garden, which is run by the local charity Sufra NW London.  The activities pupils have been involved with include: planting bulbs for next Spring, harvesting & preserving herbs, fruits & vegetables, clearing areas for new planting, cleaning the garden equipment and much, much more.

For more information on Sufra NW London, please see their website https://www.sufra-nwlondon.org.uk/

The pupils really enjoy their time in the Community Garden, where they learn about different plants, how to use and clean the equipment, how to care for the plants, what different herbs, fruits and vegetables taste like and what they can be used for.  Here are some photos of a few of these activities so far:

Who is Edith Kay

Edith and Kay were an ordinary couple who are representative of all those who devote their lives to taking care of vulnerable children, fostering them and welcoming them warmly into their family home. Over many years, Edith and Kay worked to promote resilience in vulnerable young people, and to instil the values of compassion and generosity of spirit. Their deep-seated belief in the power of education and care to transform lives underpins the ethos of our school.
